The Carnival MPV is Kia’s all-new minivan. It replaces the Sedona, but it offers much more than its predecessor. Kia designed it with the boxy shape of an SUV, gave it large wheels, and lots of driver safety equipment. It comes with a powerful V-6 engine, giving it more power than the Sedona, and drivers and passengers will love the roomy and versatile interior. Check out these family-friendly features of the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV.

1. The Versatile and Functional Cabin

The Carnival can seat seven or eight passengers, depending on the configuration. Optional VIP second-row seats recline to an almost flat position, and if you have the eight-seat configuration, you can opt for a second row with three seats that you can remove individually. The middle seat also folds down to form a table, or it slides it all the way forward so the front seat passenger can reach their child in a car seat. The third-row seats fold down into the floor if you need extra storage, or you can remove them completely.

An 8-inch touch screen comes standard, but this new Kia offers dual 12.3-inch display screens that stretch across most of the dashboard. One works as a digital gauge display, and the other is for the infotainment system. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi come standard, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo is an optional upgrade.

2. The Technology

Families will love the tech features in the Carnival. Each row has three USB ports, so there’s no more arguing about who gets to plug their device in, and it has two 110-volt power outlets. An intercom system makes it easy for the driver to communicate with passengers in the back, while the second row has microphones and activation buttons for the UVO infotainment system’s voice recognition system. An optional rear-seat entertainment system comes with two screens and wireless Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto screen mirroring.

3. The Safety Features

The Carnival comes standard with a long list of advanced driver-assist systems. These include forward-collision warning, rear collision warning, and a blind-spot collision avoidance feature. It has rear parking sensors, automatic high beam headlights, a drowsy driver detection feature, and lane-keep assist. Kia offers some upgraded safety features in the higher trims, such as a blind-spot camera for when you need to change lanes and adaptive cruise control that will adjust for speed limits and slow down for upcoming corners. A cyclist detection system and a 360-degree surround-view camera are also available options.

4. The Power

Power for the Carnival MPV comes from a 3.5-liter V-6 gas engine with 290 horsepower. It works with Kia’s eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. When equipped with the available tow package, this new minivan can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
