Is there anything more fun than a camping getaway with the family or a group of friends? Whether you’re looking to get back to nature and disconnect from the bustle of everyday life, beat the heat for a week, or just want to shake things up with a new location, nothing beats packing up the car and setting up camp for a few nights. Here are a few of our favorite spots to do just that, only a stone’s throw away from Odessa, TX.

4 Great Camping Spots in Driving Distance of Odessa, TX

1. Oasis North RV Park

Just down the road from Odessa is the Oasis North RV Park, a gorgeously maintained campsite boasting some of the best sunrises and sunsets in all of Texas. As well as offering sites in multiple sizes, guests can enjoy amenities like free laundry, fast Wi-Fi, and even a workout facility. With the 2021 Kia Telluride’s maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, you can comfortably bring your 20-foot camper along.

2. Monahan’s Sandhills State Park

This incredible park is utterly unique thanks to the fact it’s composed of peaks and valleys of sand dunes, giving Texans some insight into life in a desert environment. With no official trails, you’re free to roam the park however you like, including on horseback or sliding down on sand disks. The sunsets are a particular highlight, so be sure to reserve one of the 26 available campsites that are fitted with water and electricity.

3. San Angelo State Park

For something a little further away from home, hit the road toward San Angelo State Park. About two hours out of Odessa, this campsite is the intersection of nature and history. Check out the fossilized tracks of creatures that predate even the dinosaurs, and choose between pitching your own tent or sleeping in a rustic log cabin. There’s even a junior ranger program, so use the Kia Carnival’s eight seats and get your kids to bring their friends along.

4. Lake Colorado City State Park

Bustling with water-based activities like fishing and paddling, Lake Colorado City State Park is a must-do for those looking to escape the dry West Texas heat. The lake is primarily home to channel catfish and largemouth bass, so be sure to drop a line. There’s also a boat ramp and a fishing pier, plus you can rent kayaks if you don’t have your own. There are both campsites and cabins available to rent.

Whether you’re in the mood for an RV getaway, a log cabin retreat, or sleeping under the stars, one thing’s for certain: Kia is the car to get you to your campsite.
