Your Refrigerant Fluid Might be Leaking

To understand what might be wrong with your AC unit, it can help to know a bit about how it works. Each AC unit has refrigerant fluid that is used to cool down the air before sending it out into the cabin. One common way that AC units fail is by having this fluid leak out

A refrigerant leak could have a few different causes. One is that the gaskets and connections between the tubes it flows through and the unit itself have corroded or otherwise worn down to the point that some fluid escapes. Additionally, the tubes themselves can wear down and develop cracks that the refrigerant can seep through. You can refill the unit with more refrigerant, but doing so will only delay the inevitable. But Honda mechanics can fix this for you!

Your Fans Have Failed

It’s quite easy to tell if there is a problem with your AC unit’s fans. You turn on the AC and don’t feel any air at all coming out. There is probably a large supply of cold air waiting in the AC unit, but with no fans, there is no way for it to get out and give you relief.

While it’s easy to tell if your fans are not working, it’s a bit trickier to determine why that is. There could be an electrical problem, such as a frayed wire or an interrupted connection, or there may have been a short-circuit in the fans’ motors. Additionally, the fans themselves could become blocked by some sort of debris. A Honda technician can diagnose the problem and fix it.

Your Condenser Is Blocked

After the refrigerant fluid has been used to cool down the air, it is quite warm. The condenser helps to cool it back down so that it can cool down more air by using the intake of fresh air from the grille. As such, if any road debris gets stuck in the grille this process will be inhibited. You can usually tell this might be the case if you only feel slightly cool air instead of cold air.
