Kia offers a generous, industry-leading warranty for all new models. The factory warranty for a new Kia is five years or 60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage and 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. When your factory warranty runs out, you may want to ask your Kia dealer about Kia’s extended warranty options.

What’s Covered Under Kia’s Extended Warranty?

In general, long-term warranties from Kia will offer coverage for essential components such as the powertrain. There are three coverage levels to choose from, as well as additional benefits like alternate transportation coverage, trip interruption coverage, roadside assistance, towing coverage, and fluid replacement.

Powertrain

The Powertrain plan offers basic coverage for your transmission, drivetrain, and engine, along with any parts associated with these systems.

Gold

The Gold plan includes coverage for your powertrain, electrical system, steering, brake system, front suspension, and air conditioning. This plan also covers repairs for hybrid and electric components, such as the hybrid battery.

Platinum

The highest tier plan will cover all components from the Gold and Powertrain plans, as well as additional components like the fuel system, cooling system, rear suspension, and more.

Exclusions

Some vehicle components are not covered by your long-term warranty, such as items that need to be replaced frequently because of wear and tear. These vehicle components include brake rotors, tires, wheels, heater hoses, radiator hoses, glass, paint, upholstery, or airbags. Your warranty does not cover the cost of repairs associated with misuse or neglect.

Ask Your Kia Dealer: What About Additional Protection?

Some drivers may want to add specific coverage for cosmetic repairs. Kia offers several protection plans to cover dents, dings, windshield chips, headlight brightening, punctures, burns, holes, rips, scratches, wheel scuffs, and much more. These protection plans can ensure the appearance of your Kia is maintained, which might be important if you plan to sell your vehicle in the future.

What If You Have a CPO Kia?

If you have a certified pre-owned Kia, then you still have the option of purchasing extended coverage for your vehicle. However, before you explore your warranty plan options, you should check to see how much time is left on the factory warranty of your vehicle. Because the original factory warranty offered by Kia is so long, your CPO Kia may still be covered by this warranty. You can ask your dealership to check this information for you.

Purchasing an extension for your vehicle warranty is a good idea if you want to save money on unexpected repairs for major components of your vehicle.
