3 Kia Models With the Best Towing Capacity

You never know what life will throw your way, so it helps to have a vehicle with towing capacity. Whether you’re moving a son or daughter into a college dorm or taking recreation equipment along on your next weekend getaway, the ability to tow can make the entire trip easier. There are several vehicles at your local Kia dealer that are up to the task.

3 Kia Models With the Best Towing Capacity at Your Kia Dealer

1. Kia Telluride

The Telluride, a three-row SUV, is the Kia model with the highest hauling capacity. Most versions of the Telluride can tow up to 5,000 pounds when outfitted with an optional tow hitch, and the top-level Prestige X-Pro can tow up to 5,500 pounds. The Telluride is perfect for towing small campers, boats, or lightly loaded utility trailers.

There’s also plenty of room for cargo onboard. The Telluride offers 87 cubic feet of cargo space when both of the rear rows of seats are folded down, and having roof racks installed opens up additional capacity. Every Kia runs on a V-6 engine that boasts 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The cabin of the Telluride is spacious and comfortably upscale with standard features like dual-zone automatic climate control and heated side-view mirrors.

2. Kia Carnival MPV

The Kia Carnival minivan has a hauling capacity of 3,500 pounds, making it the perfect companion on family trips that require a little extra cargo carrying capacity. This vehicle offers 145.1 cubic feet of onboard cargo space when both the second and third rows of seating are folded down. Like the Telluride, optional roof racks can extend your carrying capacity.

Great capacity isn’t the only reason to consider the Carnival. An available two-way intercom system and an available camera make it easy for parents riding up front to keep an eye on the backseat crew. An eight-inch infotainment screen comes standard, and a rear entertainment system is available. Onboard USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto will keep your party entertained.

3. Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento is a mid-size SUV available with four different powertrains, two of which are hybrids. Depending on which version of the Sorento you’re driving, you’ll have anywhere from 2,000 to 4,500 pounds of hauling capacity to work with. Fold down the second and third rows of seating, and you’ll have 75.5 cubic feet of onboard cargo space to work with. The cabin is also dotted with smaller storage cubbies and cupholders.

Most versions of the Sorento are equipped with heated front seats, and several of the highest trim levels include a standard panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade.
