Sell Us Your Vehicle!

Dec 9, 2022

As a proud Kia owner, you know the enjoyment that comes from driving a superior vehicle. With the help of your Kia dealer, it’s possible to keep it running well and minimize repairs, so here’s our list of car maintenance musts.

4 Car Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Kia in Great Shape for Years

1. Timetable Visits to Your Kia Dealer

While some people have excellent memories and don’t need reminders, most of us struggle to keep tabs on the routines needed for all the different parts of a car. Keep a maintenance record of the inspections and work done, and make a note of when the next appointment is due. As well as keeping you on schedule, this will add to the resale value of your car, as it shows that it has received good care.

This also applies to the seasonal adjustments that are needed to keep your Kia running well in all weathers. If you need to change the tires in winter, check the aircon as the weather turns warmer, or adjust the strength of the antifreeze in fall, then it’s best to be organized and proactive to ensure that these tasks are completed in good time.

2. Schedule Regular Oil Changes

Your car’s engine works hard for you, and clean oil is the best way to keep it happy and healthy. Motor oil carries away the heat caused by the friction of different moving parts, and if it becomes dirty then it won’t function as effectively.

Advances in synthetic oil mean that it won’t need changing every 3,000 miles, but it’s still important to book an oil change according to the advice in your owner’s manual. Most Kia now also have an intelligent oil life monitor to help you keep track, so you’ll know when it’s time to take action.

3. Be Consistent With Brake Checks

Depending on your driving habits and the conditions on the road, brake pads can last between 20,000 and 60,000 miles, but letting them wear down will cause more damage to the braking system. Your car won’t function as efficiently, and you’ll lose precision and control in your driving. Worst of all, you could put your car, your passengers, and yourself at risk of an accident, so it really isn’t worth skipping this essential piece of maintenance.

4. Get Routine Tire Rotations

Not only will a tire rotation ensure that your wheels are in the best shape to handle difficult road conditions safely, it’ll also improve the balance and handling of your car, and reduce uneven wear on other components. Tires should be checked at least every 8,000 miles.
