Odessa Meteor Crater 

While in town, you have a rare opportunity to visit one of the world’s largest meteor craters. This remarkable natural phenomenon has been designated a National Natural Landmark and is an impressive sight to behold.

The 63,000-year-old crater is 550 feet in diameter. There’s a very well-run museum beside the crater filled with meteor fragments and educational resources. The crater and museum are a must-see for any fans of astronomy, geology, or stargazing. You’ll find it at 5599 Meteor Crater Road.  

The Historic White Pool House

This beautifully preserved two-story Victorian farmhouse has served as a cornerstone of Odessan history since 1887. Fully restored, it contains a museum filled with period furniture, decor, and family heirlooms and curiosities. There are friendly, passionate tour guides to lead you through the experience.

The farmhouse offers the opportunity to step back into the past and see how things once were. It’s a perfect place for photos, and the barn also provides a wonderful place for special events and receptions. You’ll find the Historic White Pool House at 112 East Murphy Street.

Chris Kyle Memorial

The legendary and highly decorated Navy SEAL veteran, Chris Kyle, is a hero both locally and nationally and has been commemorated with a very fine statue and plaza at TX-191 Frontage. It’s an inspiring monument with heart-warming messages from Kyle’s loved ones carved beneath his boots. If you have any interest in modern military history, local heroes, or Chris Kyle, be sure to pay this memorial a visit.

Stonehenge Replica

On the campus of the University of Texas Permian Basin, you can enjoy this fantastic replica of the real Stonehenge in England. The replica almost matches the original in size. With massive 20-ton limestone slabs reaching up to 19 feet, visitors gain a true sense of the awe and wonder that Stonehenge creates.

It’s a beautiful sight to see, especially if you visit at sunset. The exhibit is filled with interesting plaques with information about the original 4,000-year-old historical site. It’s a fascinating glimpse into one of the world’s most ancient mysteries, which you’ll find on Preston Smith Road.

Jack Rabbits

This last Odessa site showcases the city’s more colorful and characterful side. You can pose for pictures beside an eight-foot-tall jackrabbit statue at 802 North Sam Houston Avenue. In fact, there are several rabbits to be found around the area. See if you can find them all!
